Eretria Hotels In An Ancient City

Eretria hotels are well known for the high quality services they provide. Eretria is one of the most ancient cities in Greece and of great importance. Proof of human life in the area is dated back around the late Neolithic period (3500-3000 BC). Artifacts such as pottery shards and stone tools have been found both on the acropolis as well as in the plain. There were no permanent residences at the time since no such structures have yet been found. It is therefore unclear whether a permanent settlement existed then.

Eretria Acropolis Ruins

Many eretria hotels can be found at Eretria, which is a coastal tourist town of South Evia, connected by ferry line to the port of Oropos. The ruins of ancient Eretria are actually scattered throughout the city, from the coastal zone to the hill Kastelli, at the top of which is the ancient citadel (4th century BC) which offers amazing views of the whole city up to the opposite, in Attica. On the manicured cobbled beach there are bars, cafes, restaurants, ouzo and pizzerias with intense traffic, especially in summer. Close to all eretria hotels there are many beautiful beaches. The beautiful Dream Island is connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. Also there are very important exhibits of the archeological museum and its archeological monuments in the area. All these make Eretria an attractive destination for weekends all year round.
