Below we list some of the most beautiful beaches of Crete that are worth visiting during your stay on galaxy villas the island.
We start with the beach of Agiofaragos which is located 80 km south of Heraklion. Τo reach the beach you have to cross the imposing gorge, a hike of about half an hour. Βeach is stunning, with fine pebbles and crystal clear waters, which most days are very calm. Οn the west side a natural arch is formed and the imposing rocks rise vertically above it.
We continue with Aspes beach also known as the black beach in one of the most isolated and inaccessible areas, to which you can access only by boat. The Aspes have dark coarse black sand and are surrounded by high cliffs that form large and small caves. The color of the sea is blue and green and beach's landscape from year to year and depending on the weather changes shape.
We continue our tour to a well-known beach from the 60's and 70's. The popular Matala. Matala is located 68 km southwest of Heraklion and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Crete. On the sides of the beach you will find carved caves, where in the 70's hippies lived. Beach has sand and a length of about 300 meters, waters are deep and very clear.
Agia Pelagia is the next destination and it is located in a plain 20 km west of Heraklion. Agia Pelagia used to be a small settlement and now it has become a very popular tourist resort. In the summer evenings many young people fulfill cafes and bars on the beach and the place becomes more vivid. To the north of the beach there is the Cave of Evresis (find) and a small church in honor of the place where the icon of Agia Pelagia was found a few centuries ago.
Last destination in our beach tour is near the prefecture of Heraklion, Kaminaki beach or White beach. The surrounding mountains compose a wild landscape with inaccessible gorges, rocks, steep cliffs and beautiful secluded beaches. Access is possible mainly through the sea and the beach is ideal for isolation and fishing.
